Who would have thought there was an entire museum dedicated to the history and preservation of windmills?! My parents and I went down to see family in Texas last month, and one of my favorite stops was the American Wind Power Museum in Lubbock. Room after room of windmills, turbines, and other pieces of equipment - including an entire section dedicated to grindstones.

I also learned that the woman who started it all - Ms. Billie Wolfe - was a professor of my mom's in college. She soon became interested in saving these unique structures found throughout the world, and a life-long passion began.

If you ever get a chance to make it out to Lubbock, take time to stop by and enjoy the simple beauty of these iconic machines!
